I’m all about trying new things and eyelash extensions were definitely at the top of my list. I’m sure we’ve all tried the glue-on ones from the drugstore. You know, the ones that never really stick, are too big for your eyes or just look way too fake. Well, I finally got the chance to really just go for it at Deka Lash in Naperville and let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. The talented and patient Kaily, applied a full set of lashes on me. It’s been about a week, so I feel that I’m well acquainted with them. I’m so glad I got them done when I did, perfect for celebrating New Years with a bang!

Here is everything you need to know before you head to the salon and change your look from pretty to va-va-va voom!

What To Expect

The vibes at Deka Lash were calm, relaxing and all around really lovely. My appointment started with a consultation with expert, Kaily. She explained the different styles, lengths and curls, with visual diagrams and photos. She made me feel super comfortable. We discussed what I ultimately was looking for and quickly got down to business.

She started by taping down my bottom eyelashes so that the glue wouldn’t adhere to those lashes, this was the only awkward part of the process. Cooling collagen pads were than placed under my eyes. She kept warm pressure on my forehead with her hand the entire time to keep me still and soothed. The procedure didn’t feel like anything, it didn’t hurt, it wasn’t uncomfortable, nothing. All I had to do was lie down with my eyes closed for about an hour. This procedure can typically take up to two hours but Kaily has been doing this forever so she was much quicker than most.

Once finished, I had fluttery, customized eyelashes that lined my lids in the most gorgeous way. Kailey gave me the “Glamour” style, “C” curl, with a mix of sizes (.15 & .18). My beautiful new eyelashes have my eyes popping and feeling beautiful sans makeup!

Deka Lash prides themselves on being “Experts in Eyelashes” and in addition to doing custom eyelash extensions, they do “lash lifts” and lash tints. The lash lift is a service for people who have great natural lashes but want an extra pop or for those who aren’t ready for eyelash extensions. A lash lift typically lasts 6-8 weeks, where eyelash extensions last 2-4 weeks.

The Dont’s

  • Wet lashes for 24 hours to allow the adhesive to bond to your natural lashes.
  • Rub your eyes or pull off extensions.
  • Manually curl or perm your lashes.
  • Use waterproof eye makeup.
  • Use cleansers, makeup removers or moisturizers that contain oil or solvents.

{Before & After}

I find it important to always start the new year feeling good about yourself. We all know how important self-care is, don’t we? Let me tell you, eyelash extensions have made such a difference in my appearance and my self-confidence. So, why not treat yourself, get your eyelashes done for those hot New Years Eve plans and start the new year looking and feeling sexy!

If you’re looking to up your beauty game, eyelash extensions will take you over the top! In the best possible way, of course. Let me be real with you though, eyelash extensions are not for the wash-and-go kind of girl. Quite frankly they require a considerable amount of maintenance and I can already tell that I am being extra careful in my daily life. I’m not rubbing my eyes as ferociously as I normally do, and I’m extra careful when applying eye makeup and when removing it. I worry about lashes falling out and I get mad when they do. Being that careful can get annoying. For these reasons I’m still unsure as to if I’ll keep it up. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with the outcome and for trying something new. At least I know what it’s like when I decide to get them done again.

I highly recommend Deka Lash of Naperville. Thank you to Kaily for such an amazing experience! I give the service, experience and overall outcome an A+!!!
