I think I love fall most of all! It’s the time of year when the leaves start to fall, the weather starts to drop, I feed my pumpkin spice chai tea latte addiction and pumpkins are everywhere! Pumpkins are not just a symbol of Halloween, they are used all season long. I love using fake pumpkins to spruce up my home decor. There are so many genius and fun ways to utilize fake pumpkins. White pumpkins are a chic alternative but gold, now that just screams GLAM! And if you know anything about me you know I’m all about the style and glamour!

Gold is such a popular color for home decor, it’s everywhere! Today I have a simple DIY to dress up your home decor for fall with a chic new look.

Supplies: All of these supplies were purchased at Hobby Lobby but you can find them at any of your local craft stores.

  • Faux Pumpkins
  • Spray Paint (Any metallic color of your choice! Think gold, rose gold or silver!)
  • Glitter (Again any color of your choice! The possibilities are endless!)
  • Mod Podge
  • Paint Brush
  • Painters Tape
  • Latex GlovesFullSizeRender (16)

What’s great about this DIY is that you can pick up any kind of faux pumpkins, it doesn’t matter what they look like because you are going to spray paint them and give them a completely new look!

Step One:

Wrap the stems in painters tape, unless you can remove the stems.

Step Two:

Find a big enough space to spray paint without getting the paint everywhere. I typically will do these types of projects outside but it is snowing as we speak so I opted for the garage. Tip: Make sure to use latex gloves! I learned the hard way and needed to run to the hardware store for Lacquer thinner! Now, spray paint the pumpkins with two thin layers.

Step Three:

Let the pumpkins dry then remove the tape to add Mod Podge to the stems. Finally add glitter.

Step Four:

Put your creation out on display and be proud of what you made!
